Twenty years of Gemini and what a way to start out the anniversary year with a new website AND a Blog.

I won't be joining in with the celebrations myself this year as I am now living in Florida. I have been here since January of this year and am going to be busy through the year building up my business and establishing my new life over here.

However, thanks to Frank's hard work, I will be able to follow
everthing that's happening and see all the photos from the trips.

Twenty years and I can remember the first trip so clearly. Mike Pearson, Chris Tarling, Chris Matthews, myself and some family helpers with, of course, the crew....Jane Heath, Janet Yeoman, Andrew Aldred and many more.

We all loved it so much, we couldn't wait to do it again...and
again....and again!

I was trying to think about some of my favourite memories from the
trips and, in truth, there are so many that its difficult to choose.

What i always loved the most was the coming together of a group of
people with differerent skills and from different backgrounds to sail
together for 4 precious days. I was always in awe of how the trips
affected individuals and how this group of people melded into a team
all doing things to the best of their ability.

So what am I doing over in Florida?

Well, I am living on the west coast at a place called Bradenton (a
small town between Tampa and Sarasota). I bought a business over here, am working hard to get the established and thoroughly enjoying myself.
I am slowly getting to know people and to understand the ways of
living in the US....very different in many ways to the UK....some i
like better, some less.

The weather of course, being Florida is quite perfect. Today is a clear blue sky with a gentle breeze, around 68/69 degrees. It does get very hot and steamy as we go towards summer but for now, its hard to beat.

I live about 3 miles from the Gulf of Mexico in a pretty development
built around a lake.

What do I like the most? The slower pace of life (although sometimes that can be frustrating), the weather (of course), the friendliness of the people, the adventure of being somewhere different. Oh, and the pelicans. I love the pelicans!!

What do i miss from the UK?

My friends.... of course. And sometimes I miss the familiarity of
living in a country that i was brought up in. If you haven't had the experience, you would not believe HOW different things are over here.
If you have had the experience, you know full well what I mean.

I would love to read your stories as the year develops and you might
well see me back on the Blog at some time in the near future.

For now, I will say au revoir and happy sailing.
